Why Choose Climate Works?

Climate Works Offers Complete Virus Decontamination & Remediation Services

The outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has lead to an increase in need for routine decontamination of interior surfaces and the other preventative services. The simple cleaning of a kitchen table is no longer enough to keep us on the safe side when it comes to preventing illness. Coronavirus spreads much easier than many other known viruses, being, therefore, one of the biggest threats the world has faced.

Climate Works has adapted to our current situation and we are offering complete Virus Decontamination & Remediation Services.

Our Decontamination Process

CONTAMINATED SITE CLEAN-UP

Our virus decontamination process is both effective and safe, as we follow official IPAC & CSA Standard Z317.13-17 Guidelines on Infection Control During Construction, Renovation, and Maintenance of Health Care Facilities. All of our services are delivered by certified experts using company-owned assets, giving your organization the agility to react quickly and effectively to remediate dangerous public health threats.

Coronavirus is an enveloped virus. This means they are one of the easiest viruses to kill with the appropriate disinfectant when used according to the manufacturer’s label directions. We have a supply of disinfectants authorized by Health Canada for use against the novel Coronavirus. There’s virtually no germ, virus or mould we can’t eliminate. All contaminated materials are cleansed, sanitized, and if necessary, appropriately disposed of. We know how to avoid contamination and how to clean and disinfect any type of space.

Our team is fully capable and equipped for remediating residential, commercial, and industrial locations to meet regulatory IPAC and CSA clean-up requirements. If you experience a contamination in your facility, contact Climate Works. Our professional staff is here to serve you best.

HVAC SYSTEM DECONTAMINATION

The first step in infection control is to eliminate the virus at the source before it becomes airborne. The potential for airborne transmission of disease is widely recognized, although there remains uncertainty concerning which route the coronavirus is primarily spread, whether it be airborne, short range droplets, direct or indirect contact, or multimodal.

One of the big questions about coronavirus — especially from an HVAC perspective — is how significant of a role airborne transmission plays in its spread. Since coronavirus is transmitted via air and direct contact, it may be presumed that HVAC systems can inadvertently spread the infection. Although the chances are minimal, an infectious particle in the air could stay aloft long enough to be collected at a return grille of an HVAC system, travel through the ductwork and filter, and infect someone in a different space.

Filters are an exceptional means to trap particulates and sub micron contaminants. HEPA filters, commonly used in critical care environments within healthcare facilities, are 99.97 percent effective at trapping particles down to 0.3 microns in diameter; however, like many viruses, the coronavirus is very small, measuring between 0.06 and 0.14 microns in diameter. HEPA filters tested in the laboratory will always have some level of penetration — a few percent. But if anything gets through and if it’s a very virulent pathogen, that means you are not perfectly protected against infection by that filter.

If your HVAC system may have been contaminated by the Coronavirus, Climate Works is NADCA licensed and On-Call 24/7 to perform the Cleaning and Sanitization of Residential, Commercial, and Industrial HVAC systems.

UV GERMICIDAL SYSTEMS

HEPA filters are designed to capture most particulates in the air while ultraviolet disinfection and airstream UV disinfection are effective at inactivating pathogens. A germicidal lamp is a special type of lamp which produces ultraviolet (UVC) light. This short-wave ultraviolet light disrupts DNA base pairing causing the formation of pyrimidine dimers and leads to the inactivation of bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. UV germicidal systems have also been shown to reduce microbial load and pathogens that are found within the HVAC system and drain pan that would otherwise be introduced and distributed throughout the envelope of the building.

HEPA filters when used together with UV germicidal systems can kill even the most insidious viruses, including the Coronavirus. Climate Works offers full UV Germicidal System Services.
